Human Resources Manager (Part-Time / Culture & People Focused)
Job Description
Human Resources Manager (Part-Time / Culture & People Focused)
Paganelli Law Group — Indianapolis + Bloomington, Indiana
Paganelli Law Group (PLG), a growing mid-sized business law and litigation firm with offices in Indianapolis and Bloomington, is looking for an exceptional Human Resources Manager to help us continue building and nurturing our uniquely collaborative, high-performing, and human-centered culture.
This role is a three-quarter time position (approximately 30 hours per week) and is perfect for an HR professional who sees themselves as more of a coach and culture-builder than a hall monitor. We’re looking for someone who understands the dynamics of high-achieving professional environments, can navigate the occasional strong personality with grace, and has a steady hand in guiding people and policies alike.
You will play a hands-on role in fostering our “Quality Law / Quality Life” culture, supporting both our Indianapolis and Bloomington offices, and helping our team grow in a healthy, sustainable way.
Who You Are:
· You’ve supported professional services environments (law firm experience is a plus) and understand how to work alongside high-performing teams.
· You’re energized by helping people succeed—by coaching them through challenges and helping them grow.
· You value clarity and candor but always deliver both with empathy.
· You appreciate process but understand that culture is what holds a team together.
· You’re approachable, diplomatic, and confident in addressing people issues proactively.
· You balance the strategic and the tactical—comfortable creating policies but also jumping in to help someone work through a tricky situation.
· You hold SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification, or comparable HR credentialing.
What You’ll Do:
· Champion our “Quality Law / Quality Life” culture.
· Coach and support employees and managers to help them grow and thrive.
· Serve as a trusted advisor to leadership on morale, engagement, and people strategy.
· Lead our staff evaluation process, focusing on growth and constructive feedback.
· Provide coaching and guidance on performance conversations and development plans.
· Help managers navigate team dynamics and employee relations with confidence and discretion.
· Build strong, trust-based relationships across the firm.
· Manage employee relations with fairness and empathy.
· Identify opportunities to strengthen engagement and foster a positive workplace.
· Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.).
· Manage leave administration and HR records.
· Administer employee benefits programs, including 401(k) administration, and assist with open enrollment.
· Prepare quarterly Workforce Development filings and annual Worker's Compensation insurance reports.
· Oversee staff training programs and development opportunities.
· Plan for and oversee employee onboarding and off-boarding.
· Propose and implement improvements to the employee experience.
· Spend at least three days per week in our Indianapolis office and one day per week in our Bloomington office (mileage reimbursement provided).
What You Bring:
· 5+ years in human resources, employee relations, or people leadership roles.
· Experience in a professional services environment (law firm experience preferred).
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage sensitive situations with care.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficiency with HR technologies and systems.
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or related field is preferred.
What We Offer:
· Flexible schedule
· Competitive compensation: $75,000 starting salary
· Mileage reimbursement between offices
· Work environment that prizes balance, quality of life, and personal integrity
· Collaborative, high-performing team environment
· Opportunity to help shape the future of our growing firm
· Full benefits package, including:
· 401(k) plan
· Health, dental, and vision insurance
· Life insurance
· Paid time off (15 PTO days in Year 1, increasing to a maximum of 20 in Year 6)
· Professional development assistance
· Retirement plan options
· Flexible schedule
· Employee assistance resources
· Access to firm-sponsored training and wellness initiatives
