Civil Litigation Attorney 2-10 Years' Experience (Bloomington)

Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000
Bloomington

Job Description

Paganelli Law Group is a mid-sized Indiana firm built on two core values: Quality Law and Quality Life. We practice at a high level while intentionally building a sustainable, collaborative culture for our lawyers and staff.

We are seeking a litigation attorney with 2-10 years of civil litigation experience for our Bloomington office to join our litigation practice, which includes complex business, real estate, and contract disputes. This role is designed for a litigator who is ready to take meaningful ownership of cases, exercise sound judgment under pressure, and contribute to the professional growth of the team.

The Role

You will work closely with our other litigators and support staff to manage active matters from early strategy through resolution. You will be expected to independently handle significant portions of cases while serving as a steadying, reliable presence for teammates operating at full capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned litigation matters or components of larger cases
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, and discovery with minimal supervision
  • Prepare for and handle depositions, hearings, and client communications appropriate to experience
  • Identify issues early and escalate strategically—not reactively
  • Collaborate closely with senior attorneys to align strategy and execution
  • Maintain consistent timekeeping and meet productivity expectations
  • Meet a goal of 1,440 billable hours per year (120 per month)

Mentorship and Team Leadership

Mentorship at PLG is practical and embedded in daily work. Senior and mid-career attorneys lead by example—demonstrating judgment, professionalism, and steady decision-making—rather than managing through hierarchy or volume. Our senior lawyers help less-experienced lawyers develop good instincts, sound work habits, and confidence under pressure.

What Success Looks Like

In the first ninety days, a successful attorney in this role will:

  • Be trusted to run with assigned projects without constant oversight
  • Anticipate issues and propose solutions rather than waiting for direction
  • Provide calm, constructive input during high-pressure moments
  • Lighten—not add to—the cognitive load of senior lawyers
  • Demonstrate openness to feedback and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • A least two years of civil or commercial litigation experience
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Sound professional judgment and emotional steadiness
  • Indiana bar admission required

Compensation and Benefits

PLG offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience and role, along with performance-based bonus opportunities. Our benefits package includes subsidized insurance benefits, retirement plan options, paid time off, and flexibility designed to support long-term professional sustainability.
