3 Things to Know about Making “Bad Mistakes”

Queen front man Freddie Mercury once admitted to making a few “bad mistakes” in the song, “We Are the Champions.” It’s hard to tell if Mercury accepted full responsibility worthy of forgiveness, however, since he immediately changed the subject to sand kicking and how he came through it.

Now, I have known some lawyers who have never made a mistake before, and if you give them a chance, they’ll tell you how infallible they are. But what about the rest of us who sometimes don’t live up to our own expectations?

Are we to take direction from Queen and only admit to the “bad” mistakes, or do we have some other duties under the Rules of Professional Conduct? Check out my column in the latest issue of the Indiana Lawyer on the three things you need to know about making a mistake.
