Insurance Coverage — Insurance Bad Faith — Third-Party Insurance Defense

Insurance Coverage

The Insurance Team at PLG frequently advises insurance companies on pre-suit coverage issues, such as drafting reservation of rights letters, taking examinations under oath, and resolving matters efficiently without litigation.

The Insurance Team at PLG is also mindful of those claims where litigation is necessary to resolve or preserve a coverage issue and regularly files and litigates declaratory actions in both state and federal courts.  Whether coverage litigation is initiated by the carrier or the insured, the Insurance Team at PLG is experienced in all stages of litigation, including discovery, summary judgment, mediation, trial and appeal.  Our team of attorneys have extensive trial experience and enjoy trying cases.  PLG’s Insurance Team knows their way around all types of insurance policies and understands the importance of every word when it comes to insurance coverage.

Insurance Bad Faith

The PLG Insurance Team also has specialized knowledge and experience defending bad faith and extra-contractual claims against insurance companies.  The PLG Insurance Team identifies and advises on ways to prevent extra-contractual claims pre-suit and works to eliminate or limit extra-contractual exposure post-suit.

PLG has the attorney depth to defend large bad faith cases and the attorneys are experienced in handling requests for institutional discovery often propounded in bad faith cases.  Our team has made and advanced the law in Indiana as it relates to insurance coverage and insurance bad faith.

Third-Party Insurance Defense

The Insurance Team at PLG also represents insureds in third-party litigation and understands clearly the relationships that exist when defending an insured with or without a reservation of rights.   This third-party defense includes all types of claims, including environmental defense matters, personal injury and property damage claims, and medical malpractice lawsuits against nursing homes, pharmacies, physicians, nurses, and other licensed health care providers.

The Insurance Team at PLG has a proven track record of vigorously defending health care entities and professionals in all aspects of litigation, as well as working with clients to develop risk-avoidance strategies.
